About Us
Founded in 2023, The Kid Lit Foundation is dedicated to making children’s literature and storytelling resources accessible to children in Lagos, across Sub-Saharan Africa, and beyond. We run The KidLit Fest — Lagos’ annual in-person children’s literature and storytelling festival — alongside monthly workshops, mentorship programmes, and community literacy initiatives.

Our Vision

A future where African stories are told, published, and celebrated by African voices.
We believe that stories shape the future. By raising a generation of confident and creative storytellers, we empower children to see the beauty and potential in their world and use their voices to create lasting social change.

Our Mission

The Kid Lit Foundation is committed to shaping a brighter future by empowering children and teenagers to become avid readers, thinkers, and storytellers. We believe in the transformative power of stories and equip the next generation with the skills to express themselves, share their voices, and build impact in their communities.

Hands-on sessions in writing, editing, illustration, animation, and public speaking that give children and teens creative tools they can use right away. -
Mentorship Programmes
Connecting young writers with world-class authors and illustrators such as Chris Haughton and Tola Okogwu, guiding them from story idea to polished manuscript. -
